| Process Improvement Briefings / Workshops | Choose from a range of topics:
Our briefings are interactive and workshop-like. Topics of interest can be tailored and presented on request. |
| Consulting | We listen carefully and give answers to the actual questions and problems
our customers have. We do not force-fit our solutions onto the situations that we
encounter; appropriate proposals and support for implementing the selected solutions are
what we provide. Areas of expertise: organizational development, management of software and systems development organizations and software and other engineers, acceleration of new process and technology introduction, process assessment, process definition, measurement. Having worked with managers and developers on three continents, we are attuned to the differences among cultures in the US, Europe, and Asia as well as to those things that apply in all places but may require re-interpretation or tailoring to fit circumstances. Our competitive rates make this a high value way for you to get results quickly. |
| Coaching | Coaching managers and team members in process improvement often makes the
difference between whether the improvements are actually undertaken and the benefits
realized or the effort is wasted. Coaching is different from consulting, and sometimes
much more effective. We coach managers in how they are managing process improvement, PSP
trained teams, and their performance implementing and maintaining continuing improvement.
We coach software engineers who are putting their PSP skills to work, on how to
implement and use software processes and how to thrive in a maturing organization. This is a cost-effective way to get valuable improvement support. |
| Services to Support Accelerating Change | Working with senior managers, with the Software Engineering Process Group, and with steering committee members, we teach and coach a method for rapidly introducing new processes, including diagnosing the present processes, evaluating alternatives, designing a change plan, and creating the "whole product", including the things (artifacts) needed to execute the plan and introduce the changes widely in a minimum of time. This set of services includes consulting, coaching, and training. |
| The Personal Software Process | This is the SEI's training in the PSP. Ordinarily presented in 2 weeks with a break in the middle, timing can be tailored to meet particular needs. When PSP training for engineers is combined with team coaching and organizational support for improvement, progress and benefits can be achieved most quickly. This is an approach that pays for itself in a relatively short time. PATech can provide SEI Authorized PSP Instruction. |
| CMMIsm Training | PATech provides SEI's Introduction to CMMI (Staged and Continuous) as well as its own training on CMMI in various formats. Whether people are getting qualified for SEI advanced training or appraisal team members, or are interested in learning the details of the model and how to apply it to their situation, PATech's training is effective and fun. |
| CMMIsm
SCAMPI Appraisal
Services
(Class A, B, C) For CMMI V 1.1, P-CMM, and CMMI V 1.2 including High Maturity Appraisals (L4, L5) กก |
The SCAMPI appraisal method for CMMI and CMM can be used for formal benchmarking (Class A), for checking on process deployment (Class B), or for process suitability verification (Class C). PATech supports all modes of appraisal using SEI's standard appraisal methods. Appraisal results reflect the accurate profile of strengths and weaknesses compared to the model, and can be used reliably by the organization and by their customers. PATech's SEI authorized Lead Appraisers have experience with small organizations and large, multi-site organizations. Advanced tools and team support processes make PATech appraisals accurate, efficient, and reliable. Mac Patrick is an SEI authorized Lead Appraisor. |
| SCE (Software Capability Evaluation) | An SCE is a powerful tool to use to evaluate potential or candidate software vendors to determine the amount of risk and the potential for problems as well as to identify management strengths before contracting decisions are made. |
| QuickLook | This workshop assessment is a very quick process that identifies areas for investigation and possible improvement. Often, this proceeds plans for full assessments. |
| Mini-Assessment | Like a CBA-IPI, this is very focused and precise; however, the scope is restricted to one or two areas that have been improved, or are of immediate interest to an organization. |
| Benchmarking Curriculum | The three classes that follow (Benchmarking Overview, Benchmarking
Process Training, and Project Definition and Planning) are a series that gets an
organization started quickly and efficiently on a benchmarking project. Using this process
the team members commit just the time needed to understand and define their purpose, get
the project going, review and analyze data, and build their improvement plan on their
findings. We act as the support to do the chores, including facilitating the
decision-making meetings, making the contacts, gathering data, arranging visits when
appropriate, compiling and pre-analyzing data, and documenting findings. The fourth class (Benchmarking Support Workshop) is for consultants (internal or external) who wish to learn this effective and efficient process for supporting benchmarking teams. |
| Benchmarking Overview | Half day (4 hours), designed to share and build a common vocabulary about
process benchmarking, to describe its history, the process and the conditions that make it
the tool of choice. Several of the most common benchmarking processes in addition to the
PATech process are described and their strengths and weaknesses are discussed. Prerequisites: none Benefits: Provides an understanding of what benchmarking can and cannot do and a common vocabulary so that benchmarking projects can achieve maximum results. Appropriate for: Senior Managers and Sponsors, Improvement Champions, Process Managers, Process Improvement Team Members, Process Consultants, Process Owners, Process Customers and Suppliers |
| Benchmarking Process Training | Two days (16 hours), provides the details of the process and hands-on
team exercises in the techniques used in a PATech benchmarking project. Prerequisites: Benchmarking Overview Benefits: In a team-building situation, provides the knowledge and skills needed to confidently perform a benchmarking project with some support. Appropriate for: Process Managers, Process Improvement Team Members, Process Consultants |
| Project Definition and Planning | One day workshop that initiates a benchmarking project. The outputs from
this workshop constitute the work plan for the project and the starting materials. Prerequisites: Benchmarking Process Training Benefits: This is the "kick-off" for a benchmarking project, giving the process a formal start and ensuring that the materials needed to complete the process are created early. Appropriate for: Process Managers, Process Improvement Team Members, Process Consultants |
| Benchmarking Support Workshop | Three days (24 hours), provides training and hands-on exercises in the
techniques needed to support a benchmarking project, including problem analysis and
definition, research methods, question set development, interview techniques, data
management, data normalization, data display. Prerequisites: Participation in one complete PATech-style benchmarking project. Benefits: Provides the skills and techniques needed to support a benchmarking team for maximum efficiency. Appropriate for: Process Consultants |
